Creamy Garlic Chicken Variations

Creamy Garlic Chicken Variations

What do you do when you want a nice meal but you don’t have much time? Many will simply head outside and dine in a restaurant. Some will call for food delivery. Others will try to whip up a quick dish in their kitchen. If you prefer the last option, then this recipe is for you. Creamy garlic chicken is a delicious dish that many restaurants serve. However, it is easy enough to make at home. You may even have the ingredients already in your pantry. Most people use chicken breasts, butter, all-purpose flour, oil, cream, and baby spinach. Below is the process that you can follow and variations that you can try:

The Basic Recipe

You will first need to season the chicken with salt and pepper, as well as any other flavorings that you would like to add. Dredge the pieces in flour until you achieve complete coverage. Put some butter or oil in a skillet and wait until hot. Add the chicken and sear on both sides. Remove and set aside.

Keep the empty skillet on the stove. Put more oil and toss in garlic cloves. You can use them whole, crushed, or sliced. Pour the cream and stir until it boils. Check if you are satisfied with the taste and consistency.

Lastly, get the chicken back into the sauce-filled skillet. Cover this up over low to medium heat with the aim of cooking the chicken well. In the final few minutes, add the spinach and simmer until this softens. The dish is ready to serve.

Additional Ingredients

If you want a richer taste, then you can add herbs and spices that suit your taste. Thyme, rosemary, basil, paprika, and chili are just a few possibilities. If you want a stronger taste, then you might even mix in a broth cube. You can also add sliced mushrooms, potatoes, and cherry tomatoes. Just open your fridge to see what you already have. Grab what feels right.

Other Recipe Changes

You do not have to use chicken breasts. These are preferred because the meat is flat so it can cook evenly. However, other cuts of chicken can work as well. Remove the bones for better results. If all that you have are leftover roasted chicken, then use that and adjust accordingly. You can pair the creamy garlic chicken with rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes.
